2007 enligt: Markus Schmickler

The year was very good but too short! I was lucky to meet some great people and many of my pieces got published on CD. Also, I managed to have some new recordings ready and did my first two radioplays and some film-scoring.

Sadly, it was also a year of personal good-bye's, loss of friends and legendary artists. To name only a special and handsome one: Mr. Stockhausen. His work was important to me. The music and the writings. The clarity and catchyness of some of his works are impressive. Also the way he could think different formats and tell about them in a way that many people could hang on to. His music and whole life was good for a new aspect of music and it's perception. Why did he departed towards planet 'Sirius' without having experienced the full presentation of his ”Licht” opera? Also it remains unanswered, why his clear intellect got carried away by some weird spiritualism, which was not even interesting for people, that are actually interested in spritualism. There must be a connection, some invisible ribbon that tears apart. A a spot that becomes blind, when people talk too much about their believe systems and urge other people to participate. All this, in order to change the world for the better. Stockhausen was not the only one.

The flip side is a more than ever hedonistic Art world dominated by financial superlatives. Now, end of 2007, a conservative German government claims for a limitation of income for top-managers! 2008, a year of less beliefs.
